In the new season Gerts brand together with the Unichel company developed a collection that
conveys the idea of a conscious approach to the creation and consumption of clothing, focusing
on "zero-waste" in everyday clothing.
About 400 billion square meters are produced annually worldwide, 15% of which are scraps that
remain when cutting out the patterns. Often these small pieces of fabric are difficult to reuse
because of their shapes and sizes, so they become garbage. The Gerts brand took a new look at
this situation and turned the scraps left after the production of collections into unique prints. They
appear on T-shirts, dresses and raincoats, which will be presented on the catwalk of Mercedes-
Benz Fashion Week Russia on October, 15th. Also the second season in a row models will walk the
runway in shoes made of Pinatex material, created in collaboration with the Unichel company.
Pinatex is a material made of recycled pineapple leaves, which looks like eco-leather and is as
good in properties as the usual materials that are used in the production of shoes.
Despite the fact that scraps of different textures and colors are used in the collection, the brand
does not depart from its usual simple forms, monochrome colors and utility innated in all pieces
of clothing - says Ksenia Gerts, the designer of the brand.
