HOW WAS DAY 2 AT MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK RUSSIA

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia is taking place in the Museum of Moscow.

 

On October 20, some of the brands held their catwalk shows – SARDINIA ON STAGE (Italy), AL KAFTAN, Agatha Ænter, VINA, Julia Dalakian, and Maison Kaleidoscope, while the other showcased their collections in the video presentation format – VALENTINS (Israel), MARFAFEDOROVA, and N.LEGENDA. Moreover, N.LEGENDA presented their collection at Zvezda Nevy dealership center (St. Petersburg).

 

The reality show in the MBFW Russia’s official TikTok account (@mbfwrussia) that takes place every season continues its live streams. The key event of Day 2 was a live stream in TikTok, where speakers explained how fashion trends can be put into practice, what wardrobe essentials should include, how people should dress depending on their astrological signs, how brand names are to be pronounced and where one should buy clothes to become an influencer. The live stream was participated by Ira Blanc (@ira_blanc), beauty blogger on TikTok; Ekaterina Katkova, stylist and blogger; Olesya Potipako (@potipako), TikTok blogger, stylist; Alex Ondar (@alexinstyle), fashion influencer and Minimalist adherer and Ananda Bhiravee, Vedic astrologist.

During a public talk with Sergey Sysoev, designer of the SERGEY SYSOEV brand, participants discussed the topic “Dress Like a Star and Live Like a Star as Fashion Has No Limits”.

 

On Day 2, these brands presented their collections at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia.

SARDINIA ON STAGE (Italy)

A collaborative show by 8 designers opened Day 2 of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. MARIA TERESA CARLETTI, GIUSY MURA, MARITA BALAZS, DAVIDE SIMULA, EMMA IBBA, MARCO MARONGIU, SONIA FLAUTO, PAOLA SALIS presented their collections on the catwalk. The designers demonstrated their vision of femininity and elegance with trendy suits, evening gowns, and perfect patchwork. Prevailing colors of the collection were white, black, gold and red, which made the show especially sensual and vivid. In many looks, different kinds of floral prints were used.

AL KAFTAN

This brand founded in 2017 by Aishat Batukayeva presented its debut Spring-Summer 2022 collection Làle (tulip in Turkish). Shiny fabrics, handmade decorations, and a plenty of textures – all of these made the collection outstanding. Floating floor-long gowns and trendy long bombers, jackets and mantles, cozy sweaters and cardigans were there. This collection was inspired by the aesthetics of the Ottoman Empire in its zenith.

VALENTINS (Israel)

The brand by Valentin Karabanov made an online presentation of their virtual AR collection, The Butterfly Effect. On the screen, models amid the lights of a big city tried on the garments created in the Augmented Reality. Shapes of the digital dresses were borrowed from the nature itself – floating sleeves and lower hems brought flamboyant butterflies to mind. With this presentation, the designer wanted to remind the audience that we should consume Earth’s resources reasonably and take care of the nature that surrounds us even when we live in a metropolis.

Agatha Ænter

The brand by Agata Vostrikova speaks about the quest for a blend of technology and preserved heritage along with traditions. They presented their Carriage Return collection at the confluence of folk craft and artificial intelligence technology. Prints for the collection were designed with the help of AI, while woolen clothes were made by craftswomen from Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia. Both man’s and woman’s looks were showcased – gowns, extensive sweaters and bike shorts complemented with challenging accessories like chunky knit caps and balaclavas, triangular-shaped bags and gloves.

MARFAFEDOROVA

The brand by Marfa Fedorova mainly works in the street fashion style. In their online presentation demonstrated at MBFW Russia, the designer introduced a collection inspired by a generalized image of Nordic sled dogs. Hence all the vests, quilted coats, balaclavas, coats and lacquered garments, demonstrating independence. Basic colors of the collection were black, grey, dark blue, ochre and coral.

VINA

The brand made an upcycling collection and presented it at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. All the pieces were made of reused materials. Models walked down the catwalk in skirts and tops made of neck ties, patchwork jeans and shirts, and graphic dresses, mainly featuring blue, dark blue and pink. Micro-bags and detachable cuffs favorably complemented the looks. The show was powered by EcoLine, the top waste treatment operator for Moscow and the Moscow Region. This collection was created with the garments that were collected at the special point, powered by Vtoroe Dykhanie Fund, during MBFW Russia in April.

Julia Dalakian

Julia Dalakian Fashion House founded in 1990 presented their new collection LIVE ON. A real performance took place at the catwalk – photographers were taking pictures of the models and pretended to flirt with them during the show. This was intended to highlight that the brand makes looks for high-status and trendy women. The audience was demonstrated sets of dresses and coats, trenches, chiffon tunics and jog pants, all of them bright and vivid, and definitely perfect. For this season, the designer preferred classical geometric prints – stripes and chequers.

N.LEGENDA

The basic concept followed by the brand is drama in the manner of Minimalism. This time, they didn’t just arrange a catwalk show at Zvezda Nevy dealership center (St. Petersburg), but presented their TR Line collection online, too. The features of the new collection are the monochromic palette, classic outlines, androgyny and omnitude. Models walked down the catwalk in austere and loose suits, long shirts, overcoats and tops, all of the looks featuring dark hues and the same four-petal print. For decoration, the designer used metal inserts to highlight the wild character behind the apparent stillness.

Maison Kaleidoscope

The jersey clothing brand Maison Kaleidoscope gained a reputation thanks to their creative approach, state-of-the-art techniques and high-quality textiles. The Garden Blooming collection was inspired by the Russian national costume and floral patterns. The brand’s carte-de-visite presents long cardigans with abundant decorations – pearls, feathers, sequins and prints that can be regarded as fully-fledged paintings. Besides, they showcased jersey dresses, sweaters and suits that would fit into any trendy girl’s wardrobe.
