The International Apparel Federation (IAF) together with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) is hosting the 32nd IAF World Fashion Convention in Mumbai (India) on 27-28 September, 2016.
Every year the IAF organizes in different countries across the globe an even called the IAF World Fashion Convention. The main goal of each IAF Convention is to connect in a profound way the local fashion industry of the host country to the global fashion industry network. Past speakers of IAF World Fashion Conventions include top managers from Hugo Boss, H&M, Inditex, Tommy Hilfiger, Zegna and Benetton, as well as executives of the apparel associations of the Federation member-states. IAF’s membership includes associations from 50 countries representing over 150,000 companies that provide products and services to the apparel industry.
The IAF World Fashion Convention will create platform to deliberate on the wide range of strategic questions and present insights into various opportunity areas – covering the entire spectrum from manufacturing and technology to branding and retailing.
The Convention will bring together international as well as leading Indian players of the fashion sector representing brands, retailers, manufacturers, academia and suppliers to the industry. Alexander Shumsky (President of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia and Russian Fashion Council) has been invited to the event as a special guest of the IAF President Rahul Mehta; he will also be among the speakers making a presentation about the specifics of the Russian fashion industry.
It is worth noting that according to the IAF data the size of global apparel market is expected to grow from USD 1.6 trillion to USD 2 trillion by 2020. Much of this growth is expected to come from developing countries, which are emerging as new consumption centers for apparel.
